Hello hello helloooooo
Greetings from Laos
Finally managed to save enough money after a night out to pay for some overpriced internet time so thought i'd fling across the first update with our happenings so far...
Landed in Bangkok after a sleep ridden couple of flights, checked into our hostel which was suprisingly nice for the centre. That night bumped into jack and his mate from home and checked out the nightlife with them, got slightly carried away as per usual but was a pretty sweet start to the trip. Met a few wicked people in the hostel so following day went to see the grand palace and ther emerald buddha's place which was bloody impressive, built in early 1700s or something, before we headed off at night on the sleeper train. Met another couple of jokers on the ride, which lasted a nice 16 hours, before another 7/8 hour trip over the border and onto Vang Vieng.
Been here for 5 days now and its a beautiful, crazy place. Westerners turned it into a bit of a party so its flooded with all kinds of people, but the locals are all still lovely.
Took a break from the madness today with a couple of Aussie guys who we've been with since the bus ride. Went to a little place called blue lagoon which was a small haven, beside the Tham Phu Kham cave - WOW. Worth the $4 we spent on the whole round trip, though flip flops in deep dark caves weren't the best idea!
Yet to be sunburnt, but still the whitest hairiest brother out here, sporting a mess of a ginger beard. I'm trendsetting.
Thats pretty much about it summed up in a couple of paragraphs, but will fill you in on much more when we speak on the phone, as my internet time's nearly done already. Let everyone know I'm still alive and I escaped the night in bangkok ladyboy-free...
And let me know how everythings going at home...?
Any gossip I need to be filled in on would be a pleasure to read - missing everyone loads already, but the temperature and cheap beer is helping to make up for it this end!
Will try write back to it asap, I'll check email and stuff again before we leave here; we're thinking stay for another 2/3 days as travel to Vietnam is a nightmare/non-existent during their holiday period over there which is now.
